Money Step #7: Ask for Support

Surround yourself with people who love and support you. Some who know more than you do about personal finance. Most are happy to help, if you are doing your part.

By help I don’t mean asking for money.  Ask a friend who has good money habits to help you review and stay on track with yours. And go live with a relative or friend if that will help you get back on your feet. My son and I moved into my sister and brother-in-law’s house.  I expected to stay a few months but remained two years, helping my son with his college tuition and saving some bucks, which I couldn’t have done had I had living expenses of living of my own.sisters sharing

As a bonus, my sister and brother-in-law and I grew closer, enjoyed our Friday night pizza dates, and grew to respect and love each other in a way we never could’ve if we hadn’t been under the same roof.  A friend just paid off her $40,000 of debt by moving in with her parents, with whom she got to spend unexpected quality time, especially as they age.

Bottom Line:

You can’t fix your money woes by yourself. Reach out for assistance as you take the tough road and the universe will come running. Then, say thank you and return the favor.
